April 2023 New York, USA

The Italian Diplomatic Academy, associated with the United Nations DGC, and the World Council for Youth & Diplomacy, organized a conference on April 14, 2023 at the United Nations headquarters in New York under the theme “Future we want: global initiative for young leaders”.

The conference was also associated to the Future We Want Model United Nations (FWWMUN) initiative which is committed to promoting a united international community, a better future, and a more sustainable world through the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). FWWMUN has identified 10 goals from the 17 SDGs as key focus areas related to youth and education to guide the work of the organization.

Mrs Gu, founder of Tomorrow Foundation, was invited to speak about development opportunities and international cooperation in Africa. The discussion panel led by Prof. Abramo A. Chabib, Executive Director, Italian Diplomatic Academy, included other high-level participants such as H.E. Csaba Kőrösi, President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly,  H.E. Amb. Maurizio Massari, Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN, Mr. Ruggero Aricò, Head of International Institutional Affairs, CEO Office, ENEL and Dr. Ned Gandevani, Professor of Graduate Programs at Harvard University.

The audience included United Nations members and many young people part of the FWWMUN. During her speech, Mrs. Gu highlighted the active works and coming initiatives of Tomorrow Foundation in the field of education and digital skills, our vision for an Africa engaged towards digital transformation and industrial modernization,  and the keys to success: international cooperation, investments using adequate financing models in target areas such as agriculture, tech-enabled and technology start-ups, and renewable energies, and policies and regulations for education, affordable internet access and digital infrastructures. Africa’s industrial upgrade and digital journey will be ultimately driven forward by innovators and new leaders only if we give them the proper tools and skills.

As our founder reminded in conclusion, her mission, the mission of Tomorrow Foundation, is to guide future generations, give them light and hope, and keep believing in capacities of humanity.
